York Regional Police officers are searching for “multiple suspects” after a jewelry store robbery at Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill.
Police were called to the mall at Yonge Street and Carrville Road at around 2 pm on Saturday after receiving reports of a theft in progress.
Shoppers took to social media and said they heard shots fired, but investigators confirmed no shots were fired and that it was the sound of glass shattering as part of the robbery.
Video obtained by CityNews appears to show at least three people smashing display cases at Azadi Jewelery and stuffing merchandise into bags before taking off.
Police said no one was injured during the incident. No suspect descriptions have been released at this time.
Officers stayed at the mall as the day went on to gather evidence.
