Kate Middleton‘s recent absence from public view has sparked various speculations and conspiracy theories, ranging from plastic surgery to divorce. Adding to the speculation was a recent Mother’s Day photo where Kate appeared without her wedding ring. Further fanning the flames was the observation that her husband, Prince William, was also not wearing a wedding ring. However, it’s important to clarify that Prince William has never worn a wedding ring due to personal preference. This was made clear before his wedding to Kate when St James’ Palace confirmed that he wouldn’t wear a ring during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey, citing his dislike for jewellery.

“He’s not one for jewellery,” the source told the Mirror at the time. “He’s never worn any. He decided he didn’t want to wear one now. It’s all down to personal preference.”

On the other hand, Kate Middleton has always worn her wedding ring, which is made from Welsh gold owned by the Royal Family. Additionally, she wears the iconic sapphire engagement ring previously worn by Princess Diana.

“Catherine will wear a ring fashioned from a lump of Welsh gold owned by the Royal Family that has been smelted down,” the source revealed at the time of their wedding.

Therefore, Prince William not wearing a wedding ring does not indicate anything about their relationship status.

Kate’s public appearances and health have been a topic of interest since her last sighting around Christmas. She underwent planned abdominal surgery on January 17. On Mother’s Day, she shared a photo with her children, which was later revealed to be edited. Following this, she issued a statement admitting to the photo editing, leading news agencies like AP and AFP to withdraw the image.
