Diamond City, AR. – The town of Diamond City AR. in Boone County is facing an uphill battle as many city officials have left their positions, leaving the town vastly understaffed.
This all happened after a city council meeting on Tuesday, March 5th. According to one of the few employees’ left at City Hall, this exodus included all of City Works, the Police Department, and 4 out of 6 of the City Council, including the mayor. This happened due to a build-up of interior and exterior pressure around the council, although no one source has been defined as the main reason.
Currently, City Recorder Kathy Pate is operating as the stand-in mayor, and communications have been made with the Arkansas Municipal League for assistance. Still, the city finds itself in a precarious situation, with a need for help still evident.
Cities or other entities who may be able to assist are asked to call Diamond City City Hall by dialing 870-422-7212.
